Claude has over 40 years of experience with a major bank, mainly in the St. John’s market. He has worked in Commercial Banking, Retail Banking, Financial Planning and was Manager of several bank branches. After switching from his career in banking in 2010, Claude decided to open East Coast Mortgage Brokers in order to continue offering his style of personable and advice-based service to his many clients and friends.
“It’s all about the client” is Claude’s motto. Over the years with the changes in banking, this was often lost, but now he is able to ensure his clients once again receive the very best he can offer.

Marty Coubrough was the founder and owner of One Link Mortgage & Finance, and retired in 2019. A VERICO member for over 15 years, his outstanding leadership and professionalism led to the brokerage becoming the largest in Manitoba. Through his dedication to professionalism, Marty created an organizational culture that emphasized integrity and experience which ultimately provided Canadians with service that represented their best interests.

In Memoriam
Donna Squire
This summer, the Squire family lost wife and mother Donna suddenly. Our thoughts continue to be with the Squire family. Donna was a RN in the Surgical Unit at Cambridge Memorial Hospital and part of the Conestoga College Nursing Faculty – International Nursing Program. In Donna’s memory, the family has set up the Donna Squire International Nursing Student Bursary.
Art Appelberg
Art Appelberg had over 28 years of experience in banking, accounting, credit risk and mortgage origination and lending. Art became an independent mortgage agent in 1989 and established Northwood as its Broker in 1990. Art grew Northwood to one of the premiere full service mortgage brokerages in Canada.
Art will be missed by his many friends at VERICO and in the industry.
